World Kindness Day at Seacroft Green
Yorkshire based Carehome provider, Springfield Healthcare, have invited the local community to write letters and cards to residents for World Kindness Day 2020. Through social media, Springfield asked followers to write to residents currently residing at any of their five homes and with an option for them to leave their address so residents can write back.
Springfield Healthcares Wellbeing & Engagement Manager, Iria Cunha, said “we would like to encourage the community, relatives and anyone else who would be interested, to send a drawing, poem, letter, card etc.. to give our residents an extra reason to smile on this World Kindness Day. We have very close relationships with local schools, who have continued to support and write to our residents during lockdown and these little initiatives have had such a huge impact on residents’ days.”
Springfield have adapted their daily routines to keep everyone safe and happy, with minimal impact on the lives of residents. To ensure residents and their loved ones could keep in contact, they have facilitated calls with the aid of technology and have started visits where they can be accommodated safely. Although these are not quite the same as face to face visits, Springfield are committed to providing resident’s with the very best and normal day to day lives to support their mental wellbeing, especially at these difficult times.
Emma Nuttall, Wellbeing and Activities Co-Ordinator at Seacroft Green, said “our residents love to receive cards and letters from the community, especially over the last few months when visits have been limited. We have increasingly invested in our wellbeing programs to combat loneliness across our homes and we know that residents would love to hear from the community and vice versa for anyone suffering with loneliness.”
